About Focus Timer (Pomodoro)

The Focus Timer is based on the Pomodoro Technique developed by Francesco Cirillo in the 1980s. This scientific time management method is designed around human concentration patterns, alternating between 25 minutes of focused work and 5 minutes of rest to optimize productivity and creativity.

According to brain science research, our brain follows an 'ultradian rhythm' where concentration levels rise and fall in 90-120 minute cycles. The Pomodoro technique utilizes this natural brain rhythm by intentionally regulating focus and rest periods, helping to reduce fatigue and maintain productivity over long periods.

After 4 focus-break cycles (about 2 hours), a longer break of 15-30 minutes is provided to promote brain recovery and information integration. This method enables Deep Work and has proven highly effective in improving learning efficiency, work productivity, and creative thinking.

TimeGom's Focus Timer is designed based on these scientific principles, automatically switching between focus and break times and notifying you of mode changes. Adjust the focus time, break time, and number of cycles to match your work style and personal rhythm for optimal productivity.

This technique is particularly effective for activities requiring high concentration such as studying, coding, writing, design work, and task planning. It helps overcome procrastination and improve time management skills.
